This article in yesterday’s New York Times analyzes how proposed new guidelines regarding testing for Alzheimer’s may help lead to earlier identification, and therefore, better treatment. Our Dr. Melanie Fuertes-Hunt, a board-certified geriatric psychiatrist, has extensive experience working with Alzheimer’s patients and their families. She welcomes efforts to diagnose Alzheimer’s as early as possible, adding that “early diagnosis allows psychiatrists to recommend a treatment plan that typically leads to better quality of life for both patients and their families.” More as this story develops.

Dr. Melanie Fuertes-Hunt, board certified in both psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry, has purchased Knoxville Psychiatric Group from Dr. Kenneth Carpenter. Dr. Carpenter and the rest of the clinical team will continue to see both current and new psychiatrists at our Bearden location.
